Does keeping a laptop plugged in all the time damage the battery?

A weak battery can make it impossible to use a good laptop without electricity.

It's not necessary to say that this is a very common problem for laptop users, and it's often attributed to the device being charged too much. But is it true that constantly charging a laptop weakens the battery?

If you also think so, then know that this belief is completely wrong. Overcharging a laptop battery does not gradually damage it.

According to Windows Central's report, current laptops use two types of batteries, Lithium Polymer and Lithium-ion. Both types of batteries are designed to stop charging after reaching 100%.

After this happens, the system starts transferring power directly to the computer instead of sending it to the battery.

In simple words, keeping a fully charged laptop plugged in all day occasionally does not damage the battery power unit. However, making this a habit can cause damage to the battery.

Keeping the laptop battery charged between 70 to 80 percent can extend its lifespan. Charging it too frequently or letting it run down too much can shorten the battery life.

It is difficult to determine the battery percentage accurately, so instead of using specific numbers, charge the battery completely once. Then, avoid charging it until the battery power level reaches 50 percent.

To extend the battery life, try not to use the laptop more than necessary and close apps running in the background. Adjust the device's battery settings.

Heat can also affect battery life, and excessively hot temperatures can damage the battery. Ensure that the laptop's ventilation system is working correctly to allow proper airflow.

In summary, to ensure a laptop's battery lasts longer, avoid using excessive electricity, adjust battery settings, and allow proper ventilation to prevent overheating.
